Conquering a level 10 NPC

Use the same technique as i have explained for for farming a level 10 NPC ( see http://evonytricks.blogspot.com/2010/07/farming-npc-lvl10.html ), but instead of waiting 8 minutes between attacks just keep sending troops as quickly as you can.

To be safe, send 3-4 times as many casualties as you are getting in subsequent attacks.

NOTE: You must have an empty city slot to conquer this NPC.

"Farming" Heroes

Heroes with the best attributes can be hard to find, but here is a little tip to get some nice juicy ones really fast.

Once you have a Inn in your city, DO NOT upgrade it.

The reason for this is that the higher the level your Inn is, the higher the level of heroes are presented for hire. The higher the level of hero, the more gold it costs to recruit him/her.

Keeping your Inn at level 1 guarantees that only heros of level 9 and below are made available for hire, costing you 9000 Gold MAX per hero.
  • Click on the Inn
  • Hire the 1 hero that is shown
  • Close the Inn
  • Re-open the Inn (the Inn's contents have been refreshed and there is a new hero there for you to hire)
  • Repeat this process (1 to 4) until you reach the maximum hero capacity your Feasting Hall can hold (Feasting Hall level 9 or 10 being the better option)

Once your Hall is full, start dismissing all the heroes that do not meet up to your standards.
Heroes that are really nice can be moved to another city for safekeeping. This frees up a slot in your hall, again.

Repeat the above steps, until you have a multitude of beefy heroes at your beck-and-call.

REMEMBER THIS:
To give a hero the best start in life you will need to find one that has a high starting value in a particular attribute of concern. Common heroes for hire have a max 'base' value of 70 for any of these attributes.

The 'base' value is worked out as follows...

base = (current attribute value - (hero level - 1))
Eg: a level 7 hero with a shown politics value of 53 has a base of 47 politics.

So, we are looking for hero to hire that has a base of 68 or more, to give it the best chance of maximum development.

Here is a video tutorial that explains things much clearer (i hope!). Best watched on YouTube in 720HD

Upgrading your heroes

When starting Evony you will want the best hero to start off with. There is a simple rule for this...

The lowest hero you can get is a level 1.
A hired hero will always have a default loyalty of 70.
All heros have three major attributes that ascertain their pecking order in your society. These are politics, attack and wisdom/intelligence.

To give a hero the best start in life you will need to find one that has a high starting value in a particular attribute of concern. Common heroes for hire have a max 'base' value of 70 for any of these attributes.

The 'base' value is worked out as follows...

Ideally, each city should have 3 heroes... one of each (Attack for fighting and training troops; Politics for your mayor and building; and Wisdom for your researching).

NOTE:
Always switch you city's mayor to another hero with a correct attributes for a particular job.
Eg: If you are researching, make your hero with the highest wisdom value the mayor first, before starting the research.
Once the research has been started, swap your mayors back around, so that the hero with the highest politics is mayor.
The same can be said with training troops... The best attack hero should be mayor prior to training these.

A hero's development is derived from certain movements. But, the fastest way to get him (or her) to level up it to attack things. When a hero wins a fight, or loses alot of troops during a battle, he gets experience from this encounter. Even losing a battle will gain experience, but that is not our purpose here.

The bigger the challenge to overcome in battle, the more experience the hero will gain from that encounter.

A hero appointed as your city's mayor will also gain experience from the building upgrades and research advances that is done there. But, these are trivial and often take time to complete.

Adding a little extra Oomph! to your heroes....

Once you have a Workshop built you can start researching gear. Once worn by a hero this gear will boost a chosen attribute of your choice. When a hero's level reaches 10 or more he will have the ability to wear this gear. A hero can only wear a level of gear, that depends on his own level (to wear level 2 gear the hero must be level 30 or above).

Tip: Good items to research first are CHARM and RING. A hero wears two of the items at a time, so you will be researching double the points for the price of one :-)

It would not be a good idea to start adding Stars (gems) to the gear just yet. Just let the items accumulate, as you will need to use these four-at-a-time later on for the best results.

Adding stars to your gear (best method)...

!!!USE THE MANUAL WAY!!!

Try to use flawless gems for upgrading, as these give the best percentage of success.

Items should be upgraded to each star level with a minimum of ONE HOUR between attempts (one item per hour), using this method...

Select "Use 4 flawless"
Select "Use flawless from [current level]"
Select "To [current level + 1]"

The percentage of success will say 85% or more..... Then press MANUAL.

Always wait for 1 hour (or more) between attempts. Continuous attempts will result in the percentage of success decreasing drastically. There is nothing more depressing than getting up to star level up to 7 or 8 and seeing it drop back to one.

Where to look for certain medals...

The Medals are:
  • Cross
  • Rose
  • Lion
  • Honor
  • Courage
  • Wisdom
  • Freedom
  • Nation
  • Justice
Where to find them, and how increase to probability of getting them.

Cross Medals
These can be found in any level 1 valley (or above, if the loyalty is low).
Use a hero of level 25 and of average attack. These valleys can be conquered with 50 archers or more, with minimum losses.
Valleys do not need time to replenish after they have been abandoned, and can be attacked repeatedly (they have no regeneration time).

Rose Medals
These can be found in any level 2 valley (or above, if the loyalty is low).
Use a hero of level 25 and of average attack. These valleys can be conquered with 100 archers or more, with minimum losses.
These medals can also be found in a level 1 NPC, and can be easily attacked with 50 ballistas, with no losses.
Valleys do not need time to replenish after they have been abandoned, and can be attacked repeatedly (they have no regeneration time). An NPC takes, on average, 8 minutes to replenish defences. You should leave an interval of this time before attacking it again for the best chances of getting another medal.

Lion Medals
These can be found in any level 4 valley (or above, if the loyalty is low).
Use a hero of level 25-35 and of average attack. These valleys can be conquered with 400 archers or more, with minimum losses.
These medals can also be found in a level 2 NPC (or above, if the loyalty is low), and can be easily attacked with 100 ballistas, with no losses.
Valleys do not need time to replenish after they have been abandoned, and can be attacked repeatedly (they have no regeneration time). An NPC takes, on average, 8 minutes to replenish defences. Honor Medals
These can be found in any level 5 valley (or above, if the loyalty is low).
Use a hero of level 25-35 and of average attack. These valleys can be conquered with 800 archers or more, with minimum losses.
These medals can also be found in a level 3/4 NPC (or above, if the loyalty is low), and can be easily attacked with 250/350 ballistas, with no losses.
Valleys do not need time to replenish after they have been abandoned, and can be attacked repeatedly (they have no regeneration time). An NPC takes, on average, 8 minutes to replenish defences. You should leave an interval of this time before attacking it again for the best chances of getting another medal.

Courage, Wisdom and Freedom Medals
Use a hero of level 35 or over and of average attack. These medals can be found in a level 5 NPC (or above, if the loyalty is low), and can be easily attacked with 450 ballistas, with no losses.
An NPC takes, on average, 8 minutes to replenish defences. You should leave an interval of this time before attacking it again for the best chances of getting another medal.

Justice and Nation Medals
Use a hero of level 45 or over and of average attack. These medals can be found in a level 10 NPC, and cannot be easily attacked. Please see my post about farming a level 10 NPC for further information.

Farming an NPC Lvl10

Here is my tested way of getting the most rewards from a Lvl10 NPC:

Pre-requisites (must haves):

  • Military Tradition at level 9 or better (level 10 preferred)
  • Iron Working at level 9 or better (level 10 preferred)
  • Medicine at level 9 or better (level 10 preferred)
  • Feasting Hall at level 9 or better (level 10 preferred)
  • Rally Spot at level 9 or better (level 10 preferred)
  • An NPC level 10 within a 16 minute marching distance
  • 8 (or 9) Heroes with 150+ attack
  • 1 Hero that is rubbish
  • Approximately ONE million warriors (or more)
  • 10 scouts
Start off by attacking the NPC with your 1 rubbish hero and 100K warriors!!!

[Edit:] Some people are reporting that 10K warriors is not enough!!!. My answer is to up the amount by 10K amounts until you get a successful report everytime. :-)

You may think this is silly, but all will be explained now...

Evony is non-linear:  If you scout it for a low defending hero (which is the key to easy success) and then attack it, you will find that a different hero (a higher one than expected) is defending it, leading to unwanted losses and a longer battle.

The key is to attack it first, obviously losing, and to read the report.  It is the defending hero in this report that we want to know about.

Once you have read the report you can decide on your next course of action.  If the hero in the report is high, scout it (the report from this is pointless - discard it).  This will randomise the hero that is there....

Then attack it again with your rubbish hero and 100K warriors again.  Reading that report after to ascertain the situation.

Repeat these steps.

We are ideally looking for a hero that is level 1, but any hero under level 5 will be easily subdued.

If you have the time, try and get a level 1 hero, as your deaths and casualties will be alot less.

(time goes by....)

Okay, so we have a low hero and it is now time to start sending in our big waves of warriors...

NPC10s have a lot of defences and mechanics, so the first few waves may end up being kamikazi attacks (cannon fodder).

Send waves of maximum warriors (90K or 125K) with your bestest attack heroes in 5-6secs intervals.  These will clear the paths for smaller waves soon.

Depending on the defending hero (level 1-5) you may have lost approximately 500K warriors and are left with 500K warriors or more.

Now, here is the best farming trick.....

When attacking any NPC, the loyalty of their population decreases with each attack.  When this loyalty reaches ZERO it becomes yours, as long as you have a spare city slot for it.

If you wait for 10mins or more, and attack it again, the troops will have replenished and the NPC's loyalty would have gone up.  This is not good for us, as this will mean more deaths and casualties on our side.  After hours of testing different intervals, I have discovered that an 8 minute interval between subsequent attacks is the best method of farming an NPC level 10.  This interval gives optimum medal drops, and often multi-drop results.

Once you start getting reports that are to your favour, check you losses. You will want to approximately quadruple this amount of these in your future attacks.

For example: the winning wave had ~19K losses... so your waves (attacks) from now on will be 80K warriors.

Send these out in 8 minute intervals.

If you have followed these instructions carefully, the NPC's loyalty should hardly drop, and you should be getting results similar to this...
  • ~19K losses
  • ~250 Prestige
  • ~350K experience earned
  • your hero's health drops by ~2
  • and of course, Nation and Justice medals
...To limit the loss of hero health (being a downside), I suggest rotating the heroes that are attacking.  This gives them a little time to heal.

NOTE:

When your warrior total reaches about ~200K, start to conquer the NPC by sending waves of 8K warriors, as fast as possible, until it is yours.

Remember... If you have made the NPC, by conquering a level 10 flat, building a city on it and abandoning it, it WILL disappear when the server does it's daily maintenance. I found it is best to keep the NPC10 your have just taken, and use it as a holding pen for troops and resources, while you are waiting for another flat to become a level 10.  If you knock down the 3 non-farms and build level 9 farms in their place, the city will hold 1 million troops, easily, and be self-substained.
